It features a custom-designed Mjölnir (Thor’s hammer) with a shamrock inside of it. The illustration is based on a Mjölnir hammer found on a Scandinavian runestone from the Viking Age.
Ireland has a strong Norse heritage historically speaking, as Viking trade flourished in the Irish sea during the Viking Age and many of the Irish towns that still stand to this day were founded by Norsemen and originally built as Viking longphorts. Dublin, or Dyflinn as it was called in Old Norse, was home of several Viking Kings over the years.
As a testament to this, the Vikings, or Ostmen as they called themselves, ruled Dublin for almost three centuries.
