Rune Circle Valknut – Authentic Viking Metal Wall Art – Viking Runes, Younger Futhark

$49.00$189.00

The symbol we today call Valknut, or Valknútr, has long captured the fascination of people interested in Norse mythology and Viking culture.

With its distinctive interwoven triangles, this Triquetra symbol has been found on many Scandinavian runestones dated back to the Viking Age, and has been the subject of much speculation and study.

The Valknut first appeared on multiple Scandinavian picture stones and wooden objects around the 8th century CE, just as the Viking Age started. The symbol has multiple theorized meanings, some connected to the Norse gods (primarily Odin), some towards concepts such as death and bravery, and some towards more universal themes such as the holy trinity.

Surrounding the mysterious knot are the 16 Younger Futhark runes, which were the specific runic alphabet the Vikings used, as opposed to the Elder Futhark alphabet commonly seen and misattributed to the Norsemen (but not used by them). The runes were associated with sounds, meanings, and magic (“seidr”) in some cases.

The sign is made with 18 gauge steel and powder coated in your choice of 5 colors, this sign is built to withstand the elements for years of enjoyment. Add a touch of the Old Norse world to your home on the inside, outside, or both!
